American Association of Kidney Patients
Founded more than 35 years ago, the American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP)
exists to serve the needs, interests, and welfare of all kidney
patients and their families. Its mission is to improve the lives of
kidney patients and their families by helping them to deal with the
physical, emotional, and social impact of kidney disease.
AAKP is a non-profit organization governed by its Board of Directors.
The current Board includes 19 members and comprises chronic kidney
disease patients, end stage renal disease patients, transplant
recipients, healthcare professionals, and members of the public who are
concerned with kidney failure. Half of the AAKP Board of Directors is
made up of patients. AAKP President and Board member, Roberta Wager, RN,
MSN, is a two-time kidney transplant recipient.
Many of AAKP’s programs and educational materials are FREE to patients. For more information call (800) 749-AAKP.
