The mRNA COVID Vaccines and Healthcare Workers

Lance Salazar, Pharm.D - Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator, Vaccine Advisory Committee, Sutter Health
Jeffrey Silvers, MD - Medical Director of Pharmacy and Infection Control, Sutter Health

Lance Salazar has been a pharmacist in the state of California for nearly 23 years, serving in the hospital infectious disease and critical care settings following my pharmaceutical practice residency with Mercy Healthcare in Sacramento. He has spent most of his professional years in the managed care setting, with a focus in vaccine and biologics provider account management. Today, he is the clinical pharmacy coordinator for the Sutter Medical Foundation, with a large part of his efforts centered on vaccine delivery and clinical readiness for our Sutter Health System. As the chair of Sutter Health’s Vaccine Advisory Committee, he is passionate about ensuring that clinicians have the information they need to ensure the successful implementation of vaccine clinics across our system, especially in the preparedness of vaccines to fight COVID-19 disease.

Jeffrey Silvers is the medical director of infection control and pharmacy for Sutter Health, where he serves as physician lead and expert on COVID-19 for the health care system. In this role, he works closely with the California Department of Public Health, where he serves on several advisory committees. After completing his medical training in the UCLA healthcare system, he and his wife moved to Northern California, where he spent 35 years caring for patients with complex infectious diseases. He is on the board of directors for the Infectious Disease Association of California, the Advisory Council for the California Immunization Coalition, and has spoken nationally on immunizations.
